Few things are more frustrating on a hot summer day than walking past your vents and feeling warm air coming out — especially when your thermostat is clearly set to 72°F and the system is running. Start With the Obvious — But Don't Skip It
Check the Thermostat Setting More Carefully
Before anything else, verify that your thermostat is set to COOL, not just a specific temperature. Fan-only mode circulates air without actually cooling it, so everything feels like it's running but you're getting no temperature change. Is the Outdoor Unit Actually Running?
Step outside and listen. The condenser unit — the large box with the fan on top — should be humming and the fan should be spinning.
